Cut off the tailgate panel from the fuel tank floor, spare wheel floor, panel reinforcement with a thin sharpened chisel and remove the remaining strips of metal from the panel reinforcement, trunk side members and floors. The deformed edges are straightened and cleaned with a grinder.
Install a new panel and grab (no text) spars and floors of the fuel tank and spare wheel at the points shown in fig. 182. The correct position of the panel is controlled by the installation of the rear bumper brackets.
The back panel is welded by resistance welding or electric welding in a carbon dioxide environment with an intermittent seam 10 mm long every 30 mm of length.
Gas welding with dots through 30-40 mm is allowed with solder from brass wire L62 or L68.
