Device
The design of the instrument panel meets safety requirements. The metal frame of the panel is covered with a layer of foamed energy-absorbing polyurethane foam and trimmed with PVC film. The instrument panel is attached to the body with four nuts on the top and four screws to the cross member along the bottom edge. Access to the nuts of the upper fastening is carried out through the openings of the cover 2 (pic. 198) glove box and instrument cluster. The lower part of the instrument panel is lined with plastic metallized linings 1.

The instrument cluster is installed on the instrument panel, two blowers (deflector) 6 air outlets to the windshield or interior, light and wiper switches, ashtray 9, heater control knobs, glove box, radio socket and windshield washer pump (on the first releases of cars). Under the instrument panel are the cigarette lighter, the air damper drive handle and the interior heater.
Removal and installation of the instrument panel
Disconnect the wire "weight" from the battery, unscrew the fastening screws and remove the lining of the wind window pillars and the facing casing of the steering column. Remove instrument cluster (see sect. "electrical equipment"), three-gang switch and interior heater switch. Disconnect the wires from the glove box lighting lamp and unscrew the screws securing the sidewall 7 to the instrument panel. The handles are removed from the heater control levers, for which, at the junction of the handle with the lever, the lower part is bent with a flat thin tool at the top handle, and the top at the bottom handle.
Unscrew the four screws of the lower fastening of the instrument panel to the cross member of the front end. Through the openings of the glove box, unscrew the four nuts of the upper fastening of the panel to the front and remove the instrument panel.
The instrument panel is installed in the reverse order.
