Measurement of the axial play of the axle shaft with the removed wheel and brake drum
1 - indicator; 2 - tool 02.7834.9504
Axial free wheeling of the axle shaft can be measured on the vehicle with or without the wheel and brake drum removed. In the first case, the measurement is more accurate. For what:
- remove the caps from the rear wheels and loosen the bolts of their fastening;
- place stops under the front wheels and hang out the rear axle;
- release the parking brake and place the gearshift lever in neutral;
- remove wheels and brake drums;
- screw fixture 02.7834.9504 to the axle shaft;
- pass the indicator leg extension 1 through one of the two large holes of the axle shaft until it stops against the brake shield or oil deflector and fix the indicator;
- measure with an indicator, applying a force of about 49 N to the axle shaft flange (5 kgf) in both directions, along the axis of the rear axle. The free play must not exceed 0.7 mm.
Measurement of the free play of the axle shaft without removing the wheel and brake drum is carried out as described above, taking into account the following features:
- fasten fixture 02.7834.9504 using one of the holes for the wheel bolts;
- pass the leg of the indicator extension through another hole for the wheel bolt;
- the force applied to the wheel along the axis of the rear axle should be about 98 N (10 kgf), axle free play - up to 0.7 mm.
