Removal and installation
Disconnect the flexible hoses from the master cylinder and cover the hoses and fittings on the cylinder to prevent leakage of brake fluid from the reservoir and entry of dirt into the cylinder. Disconnect the pipelines supplying fluid to the wheel cylinders of the brake mechanisms of the front and rear wheels from the master cylinder, and remove the cylinder.
Install the master cylinder in reverse order. After installing the cylinder, bleed the hydraulic brake system to remove air from it.
Disassembly and assembly
Remove fittings with gaskets (if necessary) and protective cap, unscrew the set screws 6 (see fig. 194) and remove all parts from the cylinder.
Assemble the cylinder in the reverse order, while lubricating all parts with brake fluid.
Checking details
Before assembly, wash all parts with brake fluid, dry with compressed air and wipe with a clean cloth, avoiding contact with mineral oils, kerosene and diesel fuel, which cause swelling of the sealing rings. The cylinder mirror and the working surface of the pistons must be completely clean, free of rust, scratches and other defects.
When disassembling the cylinder, replace the O-rings with new ones, even if they appear to be in good condition. Check the condition of the protective cap and if it is damaged, replace it.
Check the elasticity of the piston spring. In this case, the length of the spring in the free state should be 57.5 mm, under load 3.5-4.2 kgf = 36 mm and under load 6.35-7.35 kgf = 21 mm.
