Removal and installation
To remove the pedal assembly, remove the steering shaft bracket, disconnect the push rod of the vacuum booster from the brake pedal by removing the retaining clip 20 (see fig. 195) and removing pin 18, then disconnect the vacuum booster and clutch release master cylinder from the pedal bracket. Having unscrewed the nuts securing the bracket to the body, remove the bracket by disconnecting the wires from the brake light switch and from the portable lamp socket.
Install in reverse order. At the same time, make sure that the pusher is installed correctly in the socket on the clutch release drive piston.
Disassembly and assembly
For disassembly, remove the clutch pedal reinforcing spring 12 with hook 9, remove the release springs 7 and 14, unscrew the axle nut 15 and, having removed the axle, remove the pedals together with the bushings. To remove and install springs, use tool A.70017. When the screw is rotated, the upper arms of the levers move apart or approach each other, which allows you to stretch or smoothly compress the springs when they are removed and installed.
Reassemble in reverse order. At the same time, lubricate the pedal bushings, the ends of the springs, the junctions of the pushers with the pedals and the end of the pusher that comes into contact with the piston of the clutch master cylinder with Litol-24 grease.
Check and repair
If the pedals are hard to move, inspect the working surfaces of the pedals, bushings and axles. If shallow scratches or traces of oxidation are found on the surfaces of metal parts, they are polished with sandpaper with a grain size of 10-M40. Replace non-metallic parts with new ones at each disassembly.
Check the elasticity of the springs along their length (in mm - right column) under a certain load (in kgf - left column), based on the data below.
