Removing
Unpin and unscrew the nuts with which the ball pins of the side rods are attached to the swing arms; puller А.47052 (pic. 190) remove the ball pins from the conical sockets on the levers.
Also unscrew the nuts securing the ball pins of the middle and side rods to the bipod and the pendulum arm. Using puller A.47035, remove the pins from the corresponding sockets on the levers and remove the rods.
Installation
Establish drafts in an order, the return to removal. At the same time, tighten all nuts with a torque wrench followed by cotter pins. If the notch of the nut does not line up with the hole for the cotter pin, then the nut is turned through an angle less than 60°to ensure the cotter pin.
After installing the tie rods, adjust the toe of the front wheels.
Check and repair
After removing and developing the steering rods, check the condition of the protective caps. Replace damaged caps. Besides, on radial and axial backlashes check up a condition of spherical hinges of drafts. If free play is felt in the ball joint, or dirt or sand has entered the joint, corrosion has appeared on the ball pin, or the ball bearing travel has been fully used, replace the joint together with the tie rod end.
