Engine mount design

The design and parts of the engine mount are the same on all car models «Zhiguli», including the VAZ-2105, VAZ-2104. To install the engine 3 complete with gearbox and clutch, a three-point suspension scheme was adopted. Two front supports 2 (pic. 2) are located on both sides of the cylinder block and are attached to the cross member of the vehicle's front suspension. The rear support 11 is located on the gearbox and rests on the cross member 13 of the rear engine mount.



Elastic cushions 9 front supports consist of rubber with vulcanized steel washers 10 with mounting bolts. To increase the rigidity of the supports in the central hole of the pillows, there are springs 7, based on insulating rings 6, and to mitigate shocks, rubber-metal buffers 8 are located inside the springs. The pillows are attached to the brackets 4 with the help of intermediate plates 5. casing 1.

The rear support 11 is also rubber-metal, consists of three steel plates with rubber separating them. The middle plate is attached to the gearbox, and the outer ones are attached to the cross member of the rear engine mount. Steel spacer bushings 12 are placed between the shelves of the cross member, which protect the shelves from deformation when the fastening bolts are tightened.

Maintain the engine mount in a clean condition - clean it of dirt and oil, and, if necessary, tighten the nuts and fastening bolts.
