Exhaust manifold and exhaust system

The exhaust manifold is cast iron, cast, has four pipes for venting gases from four cylinders. The manifold is studded to the cylinder head through sealing ferronite gaskets. The collector in the lower part has a flange to which the exhaust pipe of the mufflers is attached. The intake pipe is sealed with a metal-asbestos gasket. Since 1988, the gasket has been manufactured from elastomer. Gasket and nuts are disposable.

Exhaust gas outlet

Gases pass through the exhaust manifold, downpipe 2 (pic. 47), additional 5 and main 6 mufflers. These nodes are connected by pushing pipes into one another. One of the pipes has a flared end with two longitudinal diametrically spaced slots. Pipes are fastened with clamps 4.



On VAZ-21053 cars, two additional mufflers are installed from the VAZ-2103 and the main muffler from the VAZ-2106. The main mufflers of the VAZ-2104 and VAZ-21043 are installed with the VAZ-2102.
