Electric fan switch on sensor — replacement

If the arrow of the coolant temperature gauge on the instrument panel is in the red sector of the scale, and the electric fan does not turn on, then it is necessary to check the sensor. To do this, with the ignition on, we close the lugs of the wires suitable for the sensor. If the electric fan does not turn on, then this indicates a malfunction of the fan motor, and if it turns on, a sensor malfunction.

Removing

1. We install the car on a viewing hole or overpass (see "Vehicle preparation for maintenance and repair").

2. Disconnect the wire from the negative battery terminal (see "Battery - removal and installation").

3. Drain the coolant from the radiator (see "Coolant - level check and replacement").

4. Disconnect the wire ends from the sensor.



5. Key by 30 mm unscrew the sensor.



6. Remove the sensor.

Attention! To ensure the tightness of the connection, a copper sealing ring is installed on the sensor, do not lose it.

To check the performance of the sensor, we connect the probes of the tester to its contacts and place the threaded part of the sensor in a container with water. We heat the water and use a thermometer to control the temperature of closing and opening of the sensor contacts, which should correspond to a temperature of 92 and 87°C

Installation

1. We install the sensor for turning on the electric fan in the reverse order.

2. Add coolant to the radiator (see "Coolant - level check and replacement").
