Removing
1. We prepare the car for work (see "Vehicle preparation for maintenance and repair").
2. We clean the dirt with a rag and wash the outer surface of the fuel pump with white spirit or engine cleaner.
3. Disconnect the fuel system hoses from the pump (see "Fuel pump - removal and installation").
4. Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the six screws securing the upper housing to the lower one and remove the upper housing with the pump cover.
5. We press the plate of the diaphragm assembly and, turning the rod by 90°, disengage it from the balancer fork. We take out the stem with the diaphragm assembly from the housing bore and remove the spring.
Installation
1. Before installation, we check the absence of gaps, cracks and delaminations on the diaphragms. If necessary, we change the assembly assembly or replace the diaphragms. To do this, unscrew the nut on the stem with a wrench by 8 mm, remove the diaphragm plate and spacer. We assemble the diaphragm assembly, precisely aligning the mounting holes in the diaphragms. Tighten the stem nut.
Note: When tightening the nut of the diaphragm assembly, in order to avoid displacement of the diaphragm holes, insert two screws into the diametrically opposite holes of the diaphragms and squeeze the diaphragm plates by hand.
2. Install all removed parts in reverse order.
