Removing
1. We install the car on a viewing hole or overpass (see "Vehicle preparation for maintenance and repair").
2. Drain the oil from the rear axle (see "Rear axle - checking the level and changing the oil").
3. Disconnect the cardan shaft from the drive gear shank flange (see "Cardan transmission - removal and installation").
4. Remove the axle shafts (see "Axle shaft - removal and installation, replacement of the stuffing box").
5. socket wrench by 12 mm unscrew the eight bolts securing the gearbox to the rear axle beam.
On cars of early releases, a sealing gasket was installed between the flanges of the gearbox and the rear axle. Currently, the joint is sealed with an oil-resistant sealant.
Installation
1. We remove the remnants of sealant from the connector surfaces of the rear axle and gearbox and degrease these surfaces, as well as the bolt threads and threaded holes in the beam with solvent or gasoline.
2. We apply a thin layer of oil-resistant sealant on both surfaces, and fixing glue on the threaded part of the gearbox mounting bolts.
3. We install the gearbox in the beam and evenly (criss-cross) tighten the bolts of its fastening.
4. Install the rest of the parts in the reverse order of removal.
5. Pour oil into the rear axle (see "Rear axle - checking the level and changing the oil").
