Upper ball joint details: 1 - pressure plate (21012904078); 2 - ball pin cover (2101-2904070); 3 - upper ball pin (2101-2904192-01)
Removing
1. We prepare the car for operations (see "Vehicle preparation for maintenance and repair").
2. Remove the wheel (see "Wheel - replacement").
3. We clean the fastening elements of the replaced ball joint from dirt and apply a penetrating lubricant to them.
4. To remove the upper ball joint, we substitute a jack under the lower suspension arm and load the suspension.
5. Using a 22 mm spanner, loosen the self-locking nut of the upper ball joint pin.
6. With a puller, we press out the finger from the steering knuckle.
7. Unscrew the nut securing the ball pin of the upper support and remove it from the steering knuckle.
8. Using a 13 mm socket wrench, unscrew the three nuts securing the upper ball joint to the lever.
9. Remove the upper ball joint with a pressure plate and a cover.
10. To remove the lower ball joint with a 22 mm open-end wrench, unscrew the ball pin fastening nut by 4-5 turns.
11. With a puller, we press out the ball pin from the steering knuckle.
12. We turn away a nut of fastening of the bottom spherical finger.
13. Using a 13 mm wrench, unscrew the three nuts securing the lower ball joint to the lever.
14. Remove the lower ball joint together with the cover.
Installation
1. Before installing the ball bearings, we check the presence of grease in the boot. If necessary, apply grease to the ball pin and put it under a protective cover.
2. Installation of ball bearings is carried out in reverse order.
3. Checking the angles of the front wheels (see "Wheel alignment - adjustment").
