Details of the exhaust system of a car with a carburetor engine: 1 - pillow M4x45 bolt (15891211); 2 - silencer suspension cushion (2101-1203072); 3 - main muffler (2106-1201005); 4 - silencer suspension belt (2101-1203047); 5 - M8x75 bolt of the clamp (16044721); 6 - clamp (2101-1203032); 7 - M8x80 bolt of the clamp (16044821); 8 - clamp (2101-1203031); 9 - a nut of fastening of a receiving pipe (21081203019); 10 - locking plate (2121-1203075); 11 - laying of a reception pipe (2103-1203020); 12 - downpipe (2101-1203010-10); 13 - additional muffler (2103-1202005); 14 - M8x30 bolt of the front pipe clamp (16043821); 15 - a collar of fastening of a reception pipe (2101-1203043)
The system of release of the fulfilled gases consists of a reception pipe, additional and main mufflers. The exhaust pipe flange is attached to the exhaust manifold with four studs with brass or steel copper-plated nuts. The nuts are fixed in pairs with locking plates against loosening. The connection of the collector and the intake pipe is sealed with a reinforced metal-asbestos gasket. The downpipe is additionally attached with a clamp to the bracket on the gearbox.
The additional silencer is a structure consisting of a front and rear silencer. The front muffler pipe is put on the exhaust pipe, and the rear muffler is inserted into the main muffler pipe. The joints are fixed with clamps.
The main muffler is suspended from the underbody brackets by two rubber straps with hooks and a cushion.
Distinctive features of the exhaust system of cars with an injection engine are:
- installation of a receiving pipe with a flange for fastening to the converter;
- the presence of a welded threaded sleeve in the downpipe, in which an oxygen concentration sensor is installed (Lambda probe);
- installation of a catalytic converter with a metal carrier instead of the front additional muffler;
- installation of an additional muffler, to the end of the front pipe of which a flange is welded.
To compensate for bending loads during movement of the power unit, the catalytic converter flange is hinged to the lower flange of the exhaust pipe by means of a toroidal metal-graphite ring and spring-loaded bolts.
The surface of the converter gets very hot during engine operation, so a heat shield is installed above the converter to protect the bottom of the body.
Attention! Work related to the repair or replacement of the exhaust system must be carried out only after its parts have cooled down.
