Checking the oil level
1. We install the car on a viewing hole or overpass (see "Vehicle preparation for maintenance and repair").
2. With a steel brush or rags, we clean the plugs of the filler and drain holes, as well as the surface of the beam near the plugs, from dirt.
3. Wrench 17 mm (better end) unscrew the filler plug.
4. The oil level is controlled by a suitable tool, (e.g. with a screwdriver) or finger.
The level should reach the lower edge of the filler hole.
5. If the level is low, add gear oil (see "Operating fluids") with a special syringe and wrap the cork.
Change of oil
Note: The oil should be changed immediately after a trip, hot oil drains faster and more completely, along with particles suspended in it.
Attention! Be careful - the oil temperature can reach 90°C.
1. Unscrew the filler plug (see above).
2. We substitute a container with a volume of at least 1.5 liters under the drain hole.
3. With a 12 mm hex wrench, unscrew the drain plug.
4. Drain the oil.
The drain plug is equipped with a magnet, which attracts the wear products of the gearbox parts.
5. We clean the plug and install it in place.
Note: If the drained oil is dark and metal particles are clearly visible in it, it is recommended to flush the gearbox.
To do this, fill the bridge with approximately a liter of low viscosity oil (e.g. spindle). Hanging one of the rear wheels (see "Wheel - replacement"), start the engine and engage first gear. After five minutes, turn off the engine, drain the oil, clean it again and wrap the drain plug.
6. Pour fresh gear oil into the bridge to the level of the filler hole and tighten the plug.
7. We clean the breather from the outside with a brush or rags. We turn the breather cap several times to clean its channel.
