Most circuits are turned on by the ignition switch. Always on (regardless of the position of the key, in the ignition switch) power circuits for the horn, brake light, cigarette lighter, dome light, portable lamp socket and alarm power circuit.
Most vehicle electrical power circuits are protected by fuses. The battery charge circuit, the ignition and engine start circuits, the carburetor solenoid valve control circuit, the high and low beam headlight relays are not protected by fuses.

All fuses and auxiliary relays are located in a separate node (mounting block), installed on the left side of the vehicle in the air intake box for interior ventilation. In total, there are 16 fuses in the mounting block (13 for a current of 8 A and three for 16 A - 4th, 8th and 12th) and there are sockets for installing 11 relays. However, not all relays are installed on the VAZ-2108 and not all fuses are used. These backup fuses and relays can be connected to other promising models of the Volga Automobile Plant, which will use the same mounting block.
Through the mounting block, the wires of the engine compartment are connected to the wires of the instrument panel and the car interior.

Repair of the mounting block consists mainly in the replacement of printed circuit boards. It is allowed to solder wires to replace burned out current-carrying tracks on printed circuit boards, but only if this does not require disconnecting the printed circuit boards.
To disassemble the mounting block, remove the cover and remove relays, jumpers and fuses from the sockets of the mounting block. Then the fastening screws are unscrewed and the upper half of the housing of the mounting block is removed and the printed circuit board block is removed from the lower half of the housing.
Assembly of the mounting block is performed in the reverse order of disassembly.
