If your vehicle is towed with the engine inoperative, turn the ignition key to position 0 and do not remove it. When the engine is off, you will have to brake with great effort, since the vacuum booster is not working. If the engine is in good condition, start it up so that the brake booster and heater work and the battery does not discharge. Watch for signals from the towing vehicle. Try to constantly keep the cable taut when braking the car.
If you need to tow another vehicle, the pace of movement should be smooth, without sudden accelerations, braking and turning. Keep to the right lane and do not change lanes unless necessary. Acceleration from standstill should also be smooth. Turn on your turn signals ahead of time. Do not exceed the towing speed specified in the Rules of the Road.
