Check interval: Every 15,000 km.
1. Set the front wheels to the straight ahead position. In this case, the steering wheel spoke must be in a horizontal position.
2. Turn the steering wheel in either direction until the front wheels begin to turn. Wind the wire around the steering wheel rim at the level of the stalk lever.
If the front wheels are in the straight-ahead position and the steering wheel spoke is not level, this indicates a defect in the steering. We recommend contacting a specialist.
Steering wheel play must not exceed 5°.
Note: This size is indicated for a standard VAZ-2109 steering wheel with a diameter of 380 mm. If the steering wheel is of a different diameter, the play can be calculated using the formula
L =5°pD/360°, where
L - play of the steering wheel;
D - steering wheel diameter;
p - 3.14.
3. Turn the steering wheel to the other side before the front wheels begin to turn. Wind another wire around the rim at the level of the stalk lever.
4. Measure the distance between the two strands of wire along the wheel rim. It should be no more than 16.6 mm (see note). If the distance is greater, the wheel play is too high. We recommend contacting a specialist.
