1. Install the thrust washer and press the rear bearing inner race onto the shaft with a suitable drift.
2. Turn the shaft over and place it in a vise with soft metal jaws with little force. Lubricate all seats on the shaft with gear oil.
3. Slightly open the lock of the 1st gear needle bearing and install the bearing by sliding it along the shaft.
4. Lubricate the needle bearing with gear oil.
5. Install retaining ring.
6. Install the 1st gear with ring gear up.
Note on steps 7 and 11. When installing the old blocking ring, install it in accordance with the markings made during disassembly.
7. Install the 1st gear lock ring onto the synchronizer by turning it so that the areas without the teeth of the lock ring are opposite the slots for the hub retainers.
8. While holding the blocking ring, install the synchronizer on the shaft and align the splines of the shaft and the synchronizer hubs.
9. Press the synchronizer hub onto the spline of the shaft with light hammer blows through a soft metal mandrel. Apply blows evenly around the entire circumference of the hub.
10. Install retaining ring.
11. Install the 2nd gear needle bearing and lubricate it with gear oil.
12. Install the 2nd gear blocking ring on the synchronizer so that the small projections of the blocking ring are aligned with the slots in the hub where the retainers are installed.
13. Install the 2nd gear with ring gear down.
14. Install the locking ball into the hole on the shaft.
15. Install two thrust half-rings so that the fixing ball falls into the recess of one of the half-rings.
16. Install the retaining ring, fixing the half rings.
17. Install the 3rd gear needle bearing and lubricate it with gear oil.
Note. When installing the old blocking ring, install it in accordance with the markings made during disassembly.
18. Install the 3rd gear with ring gear up.
19. Install the 3rd gear lock ring onto the synchromesh so that the areas without teeth of the lock ring are opposite the slots for the hub retainers.
20. Align the splines and press the 3rd and 4th gear synchronizer hub onto the shaft spline with light hammer blows through a soft metal mandrel. Apply blows evenly around the entire circumference of the hub.
21. Install the 4th gear blocking ring on the synchronizer so that the small projections of the blocking ring are aligned with the grooves of the hub where the retainers are installed.
When installing the old blocking ring, install it in accordance with the markings made during disassembly.
22. Install the needle bearing spacer.
23. Press the 4th gear needle bearing bushing with light hammer blows through a soft metal arbor. Apply blows evenly around the entire circumference of the bushing.
24. Install the 4th gear needle bearing and lubricate it with gear oil.
25. Install the 4th gear with ring gear down.
26. Install thrust washer.
27. Press on the front shaft bearing using a suitable mandrel.
When pressing the bearing, apply force only to the inner ring.
28. Check the operation of the synchronizers by manually moving the clutch up and down.
