Warning. Before starting repair work carried out on the car, be sure to familiarize yourself with the safety regulations for working with brake fluid.
The brake fluid level is checked periodically during the operation of the car or at each maintenance, after the work on pumping the brakes (brake system) and replacement of the brake fluid, when the control lamp on the instrument panel lights up, indicating an insufficient level of brake fluid in the reservoir of the main brake cylinder.
The sequence of work on checking the level of brake fluid:
1. We prepare the car for work (see item 2a "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. With a rag we wipe the reservoir of the main brake cylinder from dirt.
3. Visually check the level of brake fluid in the reservoir of the master brake cylinder. It must be between the marks «Min» and «max» on the brake housing.
4. We check the degree of wear of the brake pads of the front and rear brake mechanisms (see "Front brake pads - wear check") And (see "Rear brake pads - wear check").
5. If the wear of the brake pads is within normal limits, and the level of brake fluid in the reservoir of the main brake cylinder is below the mark «MIN», then disconnect the tip of the wiring harness from the emergency drop in brake fluid level sensor, unscrew and remove the brake reservoir cap (see points 1 and 2 "Brake fluid low level sensor - check and replace").
Warning. Do not reuse brake fluid drained from the vehicle's brake system.
6. Add new brake fluid to the master cylinder reservoir (when installing the reservoir cap, the float of the sensor will be immersed in the brake fluid and its level will rise, so do not add brake fluid to the mark in the reservoir «max».
Warning. If the brake fluid in the reservoir of the main brake cylinder has to be topped up frequently, then it is necessary to check the tightness of the brake system (visually checked for signs of leakage of brake fluid from the brake cylinders and joints of the system elements).
7. Tightly close the lid of the brake reservoir.
8. Connect the wiring harness block to the sensor connector.
9. We check the operation of the brake fluid emergency level sensor: with the ignition on, we press on top of the rubber lining of the brake reservoir cap. If the sensor is OK, then the control lamp on the instrument panel will light up.
