Therefore, regularly, especially before long trips, you should check the oil level in the crankcase.
The oil level is checked on a cold idle engine with the vehicle on a level surface. The level must be between the marks "MIN" And "MAX" pointer 2 (pic. 41). If necessary, oil is topped up through the neck, closed with plug 3.
After topping up, the oil level should be checked no earlier than three minutes later, so that the topped-up portion of oil has time to drain into the crankcase.
For correct measurement, it is necessary to insert the level indicator 2 into its mounting hole until it stops.
ATTENTION! It is not allowed to exceed the oil level in the engine crankcase above the mark "MAX" pointer 2 to prevent oil from escaping through the crankcase ventilation system.
The oil will enter the combustion chamber and, together with the exhaust gases, will be released into the atmosphere. On vehicles equipped with a catalytic converter, oil combustion products can damage the catalytic converter.
In case of conflicting indications of the oil level indicator and the on-board control system1, the indications of the indicator should be followed.
On a 16-valve engine, the 2nd oil level handle is brought flush with the top cover of the engine. The oil level should be from the upper to the lower edge of the notch on the pointer.
