Brake fluid level in reservoir 2 (pic. 44), installed on the main brake cylinder 1, is checked visually by the marks on the tank body, made of translucent plastic. With cover 3 removed and new brake pads, the fluid level should be at the mark «MAX». If the hydraulic brake drive is in good order, the lowering of the fluid level in the reservoir is due to the wear of the linings of the brake pads. Lowering the liquid level to the mark «MIN» indirectly indicates their limiting wear. In this case, it is necessary to check the condition of the pads, and there is no need to add liquid to the tank, since when installing new pads, the liquid level in the tank will rise to normal.
The control lamp for signaling the emergency state of the service brake system lights up when the fluid level in the reservoir drops below the mark «MIN», which, with partially worn or new brake pad linings, indicates a loss of system tightness and fluid leakage. In this case, top up the liquid only after restoring the tightness of the system.
When checking the level of brake fluid in the tank, do not forget to also check the correct operation of the emergency level sensor, for which press the central part of the protective cap 4 from above - when the ignition is on, the control lamp in the instrument cluster should light up.
