ATTENTION! In a variant version, the car can be equipped with either a heating and ventilation or air conditioning system.
The heating and ventilation unit of the car is designed to create a comfortable air temperature in the cabin, the set value of which is maintained by the controller 10 (see fig. 38) automatic heater control systems (SAUO). However, it cannot ensure that the temperature in the cabin is lower than that of the outside air.
In a variant version, the heating and ventilation unit has an air filter. The air filter is located in the air intake box and is designed to clean the air entering the car interior from dust, pollen, soot and small insects.
The filter is replaced on certified PSSS every 15,000 km (when operating on dusty roads - if necessary). It is not recommended to operate the vehicle without an air filter.
ATTENTION! Proper use of the controls of the heating and ventilation unit in accordance with the recommendations below allows you to increase traffic safety by quickly cleaning windows from snow and ice, as well as eliminating their fogging. Remember - quick cleaning of windows and the most efficient interior heating are possible only when the engine is fully warmed up!
Controls
Knob 16 serves to set the desired air temperature in the cabin. To this end, the knob 16 must be set opposite the corresponding digital value from «16» before «28» scale 17, indicating the temperature in degrees Celsius. In the specified range, the air temperature in the passenger compartment will be maintained automatically within the limits of the heater's performance and the set tolerance. When the fan speed is changed or the fan is turned off, the automatic operation mode of the system is maintained.
In the extreme positions of the handle 16, indicated on the scale 17 by blue and red dots, air is supplied, respectively, without heating or maximally heated. Temperature control is not carried out.
Switch 15 is used to control the fan of the heating and ventilation unit. The volume of air supplied to the passenger compartment is controlled by switching fan speeds. The number of fan speeds - three, in the variant - four, the first - the minimum, the third or fourth - the maximum. In switch position «0» the fan does not work, there is no fresh air supply to the cabin.
ATTENTION! When the car is moving, the heater fan must always be turned on at least at the first speed to create excess pressure in the cabin (to prevent dust and dirt from entering through body leaks), and also to avoid fogging of glasses.
Pregnant «A» switch 15, the ACS automatic control system, in order to ensure the set temperature and accelerate the heating of the air in the cabin, automatically selects one of two fan speeds corresponding to the positions «1» and «2» on scale 14.
The air damper control lever 9 serves to distribute the air supply. If lever 9 is set opposite the icon, the air flow is directed to the windshield through nozzles 11, 21 and to the windows of the front doors through nozzles 1, and also, partially, through nozzles 2. When lever 9 is set opposite the icon, the air enters the lower part of the cabin (in the footwells of the driver and passengers) through nozzles 12, 13. In this case, a small part of the air is supplied through nozzles 1, 2, 11 and 21 into the upper part of the cabin. If the lever 9 is set opposite the icon, the air is directed to the upper part of the passenger compartment through nozzles 2, 7 and, partially, to the windshield through nozzles 11, 21.
Button 8 (installed as a variant) is used to switch on the air recirculation mode. When button 8 is pressed, the supply of outside air to the heating and ventilation unit is stopped and air is taken from the passenger compartment. Using the recirculation mode prevents unpleasant odors from entering the passenger compartment, for example, when driving in a traffic jam or in a tunnel.
ATTENTION! The recirculation mode can only be switched on for a short time, since in this case fresh air does not enter the passenger compartment, and the windows may fog up.
Vehicles without an air recirculation system are equipped with an air filter.
Nozzles 2 and 6 can be individually opened or closed. To close the nozzle, it is necessary to move the corresponding lever 3 or 7 all the way to the right. By moving the levers 3 or 7 left-right, as well as up-down, you can change the direction of the air flow in the horizontal or vertical planes, respectively.
Nozzles 21 serve to prevent fogging of the lower part of the windshield.
Button 5 is used to turn on the heating of the rear window in case of fogging or freezing. When the heating is switched on, the control lamp 4 lights up orange. To turn off the heating, press button 5 again.
ATTENTION! To ensure efficient heating of the rear of the passenger compartment, do not block the nozzles 13 located under the front seats.
Cabin ventilation
For interior ventilation (supply of unheated fresh air) it is necessary to set the controls of the heating and ventilation unit to the following position:
- knob 16 turn counterclockwise until it stops (blue dot on scale 17). (In most cases, it is enough to leave the knob 16 at the desired temperature value on the scale 17, the controller will keep the damper fully closed until the desired temperature in the cabin is reached);
- nozzles 2 and 6 open, the recommended position of levers 3 and 7 is the uppermost position;
- lever 9 set to position ;
- switch 15 set to the desired speed;
- when the windshield fogs up, put the lever 9 in position .
Preventing glasses from fogging up
If the air humidity is high, such as during rain, the car windows may fog up. To prevent fogging of the windshield and front door windows, do the following:
- knob 16 set to the desired level of air heating;
- lever 9 set to position ;
- switch 15 set to maximum speed;
- additionally, through nozzles 2, it is possible to direct heated air to the windows of the front doors, for this it is necessary to orient the blades 19 to the highest position, and the dampers 20 to the central part of the windows of the front doors, close the central nozzles.
When the air humidity is high, especially during extreme conditions of prolonged rain showers, the windows of the car may fog up. To prevent fogging of the windshield and front door windows under these conditions, do the following:
- knob 16 set clockwise to the position «20...24»;
- lever 9 set to position ;
- switch 15 to the second speed.
Cleaning windows from snow and ice
To quickly clear snow and ice from the windshield and front door windows, it is recommended to set the controls to the following positions:
- knob 16 turn clockwise until it stops (red dot on scale 17). (In most cases, it is enough to leave the handle 16 at the desired temperature value on the scale 17, the controller will hold the damper fully open until the set temperature in the cabin is reached - by this time the windows will be cleared);
- lever 9 set to position ;
- switch 15 set to maximum speed;
- direct the air flow through the nozzles 2 onto the windows of the front doors (see above), close the central nozzles.
Fast heating of the passenger compartment and ensuring a comfortable air temperature in the passenger compartment
- set knob 16 to the desired temperature value on scale 17;
- switch 15 set to position «A» or «2» (in a variant). To increase performance or prevent fogging of the windows, it is recommended to use the maximum fan speed;
- use lever 9 to set the desired air flow distribution;
- side nozzles 2 open, central nozzles 6 close.
The ACS will ensure that the passenger compartment is heated up to the set temperature at maximum speed and that the temperature is maintained at the set level within the limits of the heater's performance and the set tolerance.
ATTENTION! To ensure efficient operation of the heating and ventilation system, regularly clear snow, ice and leaves from the fresh air intakes located in front of the windshield.
Do not allow the increase in air humidity in the cabin from the evaporation of water and snow from carpets and rubber mats, clean them in a timely manner. Keep the car windows clean, because more moisture is retained on dirty glasses, and the time of their thawing increases.
Do not block the used air outlets in the luggage compartment rear trim. On LADA 110 cars, do not cover with anything the gap between the luggage rack and the rear window, which serves to remove the used air.
When the heating system is operating in maximum mode, it is not recommended to open windows.
Features of climate control
The air conditioning system provides both heating and cooling of the air in the car. The operation of the air conditioner reduces not only the temperature of the air in the cabin, but also its humidity, thereby preventing the windows from fogging up, especially when the outside air humidity is high.
To turn on the air conditioner with the engine running and the windows closed, press button 18, set the ventilation mode. To turn off the air conditioner, press button 18 again.
ATTENTION! The air conditioner operates only when the engine is running at an outside air temperature of +10°C and when the fan is turned on to one of the positions on the scale 14.
To set the desired air temperature in the passenger compartment, as with heating, turn the knob 16: clockwise - warmer, counterclockwise - colder. The temperature will be maintained automatically within the capacity of the air conditioner and the set tolerance.
ATTENTION! In lever position 9 , at least one of the nozzles 2 or 6 must be open, otherwise the air cooling coil may freeze.
To speed up the cooling of the air in the passenger compartment, you can turn on the recirculation mode for a short time, for which you need to press the key 8, while the supply of outside air to the air conditioner stops and air is taken from the passenger compartment. Using the recirculation mode also prevents unpleasant odors from entering the passenger compartment, for example, when driving in a traffic jam or in a tunnel.
ATTENTION! The recirculation mode can only be switched on for a short time, since in this case no outside air enters the passenger compartment and the windows may fog up.
Economical operation of the air conditioner
The air conditioning compressor is driven by the engine, so its operation in the air cooling mode significantly affects fuel consumption. To reduce the time of using the air conditioner as much as possible, do the following.
If the interior of the car in the parking lot has become very hot due to solar radiation, it is necessary to ventilate it before driving by opening windows or doors for a short time.
Do not turn on the air conditioner if the car windows are open while driving.
If a comfortable air temperature inside the car can be achieved without turning on the refrigeration unit, then it is better to use the interior ventilation mode.
ATTENTION! An air filter is installed in the air intake of the heating and ventilation system of LADA 110 family cars.
When driving in heavy rain with the heater fan turned on, the filter may become wet, which will lead to the supply of humidified air into the passenger compartment and fogging of the windows. If it is necessary to continue driving in rainy conditions, you should wipe the windows, reduce the fan speed and drive only if the windows are transparent.
As a rule, during rains of medium intensity, characteristic of the territory of the Russian Federation, there are no problems with fogging of glasses.
After the rain stops, the filter dries under natural conditions after 2-3 hours, with the fan running - after 30-40 minutes. When dry, the filter fully restores its performance.
Fogging of glasses during heavy rain does not occur on cars equipped with a climate system. Cars of the LADA 110 family with climate systems are produced by AVTOVAZ in accordance with market demands.
