When the door windows are closed, air is supplied to the passenger compartment by the heater electric fan. Air intake is carried out through the air intake grille installed in front of the windshield. The heater is installed under the air intake grille on the right side. Depending on the year of manufacture, two types of heaters are installed on the car. They differ in the design of the casings of the heater housing and the air intake housing, as well as the heating and ventilation controls. The dampers of both heaters - with an electric drive - direct the air flow both through the heater core and bypassing it. The movement of coolant through the heater core is not blocked (faucet missing), and adjusting the temperature of the air entering the passenger compartment is achieved by mixing its cold and heated flows in various proportions. The position of the heater damper is set by the electronic control unit for heating and ventilation, depending on the selected position of the temperature regulator knob. The actuating mechanism of the damper electric drive is a micromotor-reducer, combined with a damper position sensor. The electric heater fan has four rotation speeds (or three, depending on the configuration), which are provided by an additional resistor built into the power supply circuit of the fan motor.
The distribution of air flows throughout the cabin is carried out by air distributor dampers through the air ducts of the instrument panel and the floor tunnel lining. Additionally, part of the flows can be redistributed by the guide vanes of the ventilation grilles.
heater (new type): 1 - radiator; 2 - heater housing; 3 - damper electric drive; 4 - damper; 5 - additional resistor; 6 - heater electric fan; 7 - filter grille; 8 - heater air intake housing
The hood is carried out due to the rarefaction that occurs near some areas of the body when the car is moving. To supply air to such areas under the rear exterior lamps, ventilation outlets are made, in which deflectors with valves are installed. On early production vehicles, exhaust vents are built into the rear ends of the side doors. On cars with a sedan body, the gap between the rear window and the luggage compartment shelf should not be blocked so as not to disturb the operation of the exhaust ventilation.
Old type heater has a recirculation mode (air intake from the cabin). To transfer the heater to the air recirculation mode, there is a special damper in the heater housing. Damper actuator - pneumatic (with pneumatic valve). The vacuum is supplied to it from the engine receiver through the solenoid valve. When the engine is not running, the recirculation mode does not work. To replace the electric fan, you can not remove the heater from the car. To remove the heater, you must first remove the instrument panel.
New type heater can be removed without dismantling the instrument panel, but the electric fan can only be removed from the dismantled heater. A filter element is installed on the air intake of the heater, which cleans the air entering the passenger compartment from dust.
Comment. Work on the removal and repair of the ventilation and heating system is shown on the example of the removal of a new type of heater.
