This is the conditional numbering of the contacts of the wiring harness block. Please note that the shoe socket is asymmetrical (landmark - mounting ledge).
You will need an autotester to test the switch.
1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «–» battery.
2. Remove the steering column trim (see «Removal and installation of facings of a steering column»).
3. Disconnect the lock wiring harness connector from the car's on-board network and pull the harness out from under the instrument panel to a convenient position.
4. Install the key in the lock alternately in all three positions and in each position of the key with an ohmmeter, check the resistance between the contacts of the block.
If the ignition switch contacts are fully functional, the resistance is zero.
If the contacts are faulty, the resistance is infinity.
If the contacts are burnt, the ohmmeter will show some resistance.
5. To check if the backlight is working, apply 12 V DC to the contacts «2» and «6» wiring harness pads. If the backlight does not light up, it means that it is faulty or there is an open in the electrical circuit.
6. If contacts «15», «30» and «50» locks are faulty, replace the contact group (see «Replacing the contact group of the ignition switch»).
