General information about cars

Cars of the VAZ-2115 sedan type with a four-door body and the VAZ-2114 hatchback type with a five-door body and the VAZ-2113 with a three-door body were created on the basis of the VAZ-2199, VAZ-2109, VAZ-2108 cars, respectively, so many of their components and assemblies are unified. After the final cessation in 2004 of the production in Tolyatti of models «eighth» families of modernized cars received the general name LADA SAMARA-2.

Cars of the LADA SAMARA-2 family are equipped with a petrol engine mod. VAZ-2111 with a working volume of 1.5 liters, located transversely in the engine compartment. The engine is equipped with multiport fuel injection with or without feedback (depending on configuration) and electronic control system (ECM), ensuring compliance with EURO II standards. Depending on the configuration, a VAZ-2115 car can be equipped with a gasoline carburetor engine mod. VAZ-21083 with a working volume of 1.5 liters with a contactless ignition system. A five-speed gearbox, front-wheel drive simplify the transmission and increase efficiency, improve handling and vehicle stability at high speeds and slippery roads. However, in a car with a loaded roof rack or trailer, the distribution of masses along the axles changes and, when driving, the handling deteriorates accordingly. In such cases, you must be extremely careful and not make sudden maneuvers on the road when overtaking and turning.

The front part of the car body of the LADA SAMARA-2 family differs from its predecessor with new original front headlights, a modified shape of the hood and front fenders. The front and rear buffers are painted in body color, moldings and sill fairings are installed on the sides of the body, which protect body elements from corrosion and damage. The modified shape of the trunk lid and the rear body panel on the VAZ-2115 car allows you to reduce the loading height of the luggage compartment. The anatomical front seats are equipped with headrests and a longitudinal movement mechanism that provides comfortable seating for passengers in the rear seat. On cars with a hatchback body, the rear row of seats can be folded down, and then the luggage compartment capacity will increase from 330 to 940 liters, which will allow you to carry bulky luggage.


Spoilers installed on the outer panel of the tailgate of VAZ-2114 and VAZ-2113 cars and on the trunk lid of VAZ-2115 improved the appearance and aerodynamics of the bodies. Adjustable steering column, upper attachment points for front seat belts and instrument cluster borrowed from VAZ cars «tenth» families. An energy-absorbing instrument panel, called the europanel, is installed on cars of the LADA SAMARA-2 family. An additional brake light built into the spoiler improves driving safety. The system of central blocking of door locks has simplified the use of locking mechanisms of locks. The design of the rear door locks provides a mechanism that excludes the possibility of opening the doors from the inside («children's» lock), which increases the safety of transporting children in the back seat. On cars, depending on the configuration, they can be installed immobilizer, trip computer, power windows, electric heated front seats and electric drive of external rear view mirrors.





Cars VAZ-2114 and VAZ-2113 differ only in the number of doors and the design of the front passenger seat with a backrest that leans forward, which makes it easier to get into the back seat. The overall dimensions of hatchbacks of the LADA SAMARA-2 family are shown on the example of the VAZ-2114 in fig. 1.2.
