In most emergency cases with damage to the roof, it is required to replace it.
Remove the tailgate, gutters, windshield, upholstery and roof accessories.
After laying the new roof panel on the body, determine the cutting locations for the pillars and roof side panels.
Cut the roof panel along the lines shown in Figure 8-5.
Detach the roof panel, remove the remaining strips of the panel and straighten the deformed areas.
Sand down paint and primer to metal on the welded edges of the roof panel, windscreen frame, sides, roof side panels and reinforcements.
Replace gaskets on roof reinforcements.
Install the roof panel, fix it with quick-release pliers, and gas-weld the panel at the points indicated by the arrows in Figure 8-5.
Weld the roof panel by resistance welding in 40-50 mm increments or by gas spot welding in 50-60 mm intervals along pre-drilled holes with a diameter of 5-6 mm. To avoid deformation of parts, weld from the middle of the seam to the right and left.
Clean the seams with an electric or pneumatic grinder.
