Radiator
Removal from vehicle. To remove the radiator from the vehicle:
- remove the spare wheel and remove the spare wheel support tube;
- drain the fluid from the radiator and cylinder block through the drain plugs in the left radiator tank and cylinder block; at the same time, open the heater tap and remove the plug from the radiator filler neck;
- disconnect the hoses from the radiator;
- remove the fan casing, having previously separated the halves of the casing;
- unscrew the two bolts securing the radiator to the body, unclip the upper latch of the radiator guide casing up, move the top of the radiator to the engine and remove it from the engine compartment;
- remove the radiator shroud.
Checking the tightness of the radiator. The tightness of the radiator is checked in a bath of water.
Having muffled the radiator pipes, bring air to it at a pressure of 0.2 MPa (2 kgf/cm2) and soak in a bath of water for at least 30 seconds. In this case, air etching should not be observed.
If the radiator is damaged or leaking, repair or replace it with a new one.
Radiator repair. In case of damage to the aluminum tubes, disassemble the radiator, ream the defective tubes on both sides with a drill with a diameter of 8.5 mm to a depth of 25-30 mm. Insert repair tubes flared at one end with an inner diameter of 7.3 mm and a wall thickness of 0.5 mm into defective tubes. Then, on a special stand, punch the tubes with a steel mandrel with a diameter of 7.5+0,05 mm over the entire length.
On the tube expansion stand, expand the repair tubes simultaneously from both ends of each.
Assemble the radiator and check its tightness.
Lubrication system
The system is distinguished by the installation of an increased performance oil pump. The length of the driving and driven gears is increased by 6 mm.
