The car is equipped with a two-stage transfer case, with a forced locking center differential and manual control.
Two gears (lower and higher) with gear ratios of 1, 2 and 2.135 allow you to increase the gear ratios of the transmission and double the total number of gears, which makes it possible to use the car more efficiently in various road conditions. The center differential provides constant drive to the front and rear drive axles.
Forced differential lock increases the vehicle's cross-country ability. Gear shifting and differential lock are made using levers mounted on the transfer case.

There are 19 transfer boxes in the crankcase (pic. 32), cast from an aluminum alloy, on the bearings are installed the leading 22 and intermediate 24 shafts, the drive shafts of the front 8 and rear 27 axles and the differential housing 25. On the drive shaft 22, helical gears of the highest 17 and the lowest 20 gears are freely installed, having toothed rims and being in constant engagement with the gears, the intermediate shaft 24, which is made in the form of a gear block. Between the gears 17 and 20 on the shaft is fixed the hub of the gear shift clutch 18, which has external slots on which the sliding clutch is installed. When the top gear is engaged, the gear shift clutch 18 locks the freely rotating gear 17 on the input shaft 22, and the gear 20 when the low gear is engaged. consists of two parts. On the housing of the differential on the splines is a movable clutch 5 of the differential lock. Inside the differential housing, an axle 30 is installed with two satellites 29, which are in constant engagement with gears 35 and 28, which are connected to the splined ends of the drive shafts 8 and 27 of the front and rear drive axles of the vehicle. The shaft 8 of the front axle drive, in contrast to the shaft 27 of the rear axle drive, is longer and has a ring gear 7 for blocking the differential. When the differential is locked, the movable clutch 5 connects the shaft 8 to the differential housing 25.
The gear shift mechanism of the transfer case includes: a shift lever 43, a slider 42, a fork 44 and a ball detent 45. The lever 43 is pivotally mounted on the axis 40 in the bracket lugs. The lever has a figured end, which enters the groove of the slider 42 and is sealed in it by a spring 38. A fork 44 is fixed on the slider, which is included in the groove of the gearshift clutch 18. A ball detent 45 holds the slider 42 in the neutral and engaged positions.
The differential lock drive has a device similar to the gear shift mechanism. The drive consists of a lever 41, a slider 39 with a fork 36 and a ball detent 45.
The transfer case is attached to the car body on two supports mounted on axles 33. Each support consists of a bracket 16 into which a rubber cushion 32 is pressed.
