Belt tension is checked by deflecting it between the alternator and pump pulleys or between the pump and crankshaft pulleys. Under normal belt tension, deflection A (pic. 2-61) under force 98 N (10 kgf) should be within 10-15 mm, and deflection B within 12-17 mm.
To increase belt tension, loosen the alternator fastening nuts, move it away from the engine and tighten the nuts.
