Remove the air filter by first disconnecting the hoses from it, removing the cover and filter element. Close the carburetor from above with a technological plug.
Disconnect the carburetor throttle linkage and choke control cable from the engine.
Disconnect the wire ends from the solenoid valve and carburetor limit switch, from the oil pressure and coolant temperature sensors, from the ignition distributor sensor, from the generator and starter.
Drain the coolant from the radiator block. cylinders and heater, for which move the heater valve control lever to the right, unscrew the plugs on the left side of the cylinder block and on the right radiator tank, screw the drain hose fittings in their place and remove the plugs from the expansion tank and radiator.
Remove the fan shroud by first separating its halves. Disconnect the coolant inlet and outlet hoses from the engine. Unscrew the two bolts securing the radiator to the body, push up the upper latch of the radiator guide casing, shift the upper part of the radiator towards the engine and remove the radiator from the engine compartment along with the thermostat and hoses. Remove the radiator shroud.
Loosen the nuts securing the muffler intake pipe to the exhaust manifold. Disconnect the downpipe from the bracket on the gearbox and lower it down.
Loosen the clamps, disconnect the hoses from the fuel pump and fix it in a position that excludes the leakage of gasoline. Disconnect the fuel drain hose from the carburetor.
Loosen the clamps and disconnect the hoses from the heater pipes, and from the inlet pipe - the vacuum brake booster hose.
Using a socket wrench 02.7812.9500, unscrew the bolts securing the starter to the clutch housing. Loosen the bolts securing the clutch housing cover to the bottom of the clutch housing. Using a socket wrench A.55035, unscrew the bolts securing the clutch housing to the cylinder block.
Hang the TSO-3/379 traverse on the hoist and fasten the engine on the right side to the bracket mounted on the front exhaust manifold mounting stud, and on the left side to the clutch cover mounting hole.
Slightly tension the hoist chain, unscrew the nuts securing the pillows 3 (pic. 2-3) front engine mount to the side brackets, unscrew the nuts and the bolt securing the front axle housing to the engine brackets. Disconnect wire from engine «masses».
Pic. 2-3. Engine Mount:
1 - right engine mount bracket with a pillow; 2 - left engine mount bracket; 3 - pillow; 4 - cross member of the rear engine mount; 5 - bracket with rear engine mount support.
Remove the engine by first lifting it up to remove the suspension mount bolts from the holes in the brackets, and then moving it forward to remove the end of the transmission input shaft from the bearing located in the crankshaft flange.
Remove the starter heat shield, starter and hot air intake along with the supply hose. Remove the two side brackets with the front engine mounts from the cylinder block.
Loosen the clutch mounting bolts and remove it.
Install the engine to the vehicle in the reverse order of removal. Pay special attention to connecting the engine to the gearbox: the drive shaft must fit exactly into the splines of the clutch disc.
In addition, to ensure the centering of the engine and transfer case, it is necessary that the centering washers of the front engine mounts fit into the corresponding holes in the side brackets.
