Brake the car with the parking brake lever, remove the spare wheel and disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.
Remove the air filter and close the carburetor from above with a technological plug. Drain the coolant from the radiator and cylinder block.
Disconnect the wires from the spark plugs and the coolant temperature sensor, from the limit switch and the carburetor solenoid valve.
Disconnect the choke cable from the carburetor. Disconnect the carburetor throttle linkage from the intermediate lever on the cylinder head cover.
Loosen the clamps and disconnect the fuel supply and drain hoses from the carburetor. Secure the hoses in a position that prevents fuel leakage. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the carburetor.
Disconnect the hoses from the inlet pipe, from the outlet pipe of the cylinder head cooling jacket and from the fluid supply pipe to the heater. Remove the EGR valve.
Disconnect from the exhaust manifold the protective shield of the starter, the exhaust pipe of the mufflers and the bracket for fastening the pipe for draining liquid from the heater.
Remove the cylinder head cover with gasket and fuel line bracket.
Turn the crankshaft until the mark on the camshaft sprocket aligns with the mark on the bearing housing (see fig. 2-22).
Loosen the camshaft sprocket bolt. Loosen the cap nut of the chain tensioner, press the tensioner rod with a mounting spatula and fix it with the cap nut. Remove the camshaft sprocket.
Turn away bolts of fastening of a head of cylinders to the block and remove a head of cylinders with a laying.
Establish a head of cylinders in an order, the return to removal, observing the recommendations stated in subsection «Engine Assembly». The gasket between the head and the cylinder block cannot be reused, so replace it with a new one.
When installing the cylinder head, adjust the chain tension and valve clearances. After installing the cylinder head, adjust the carburetor drive and ignition timing.
