Clamp the steering gear in a vice with soft jaws or install it in fixture 67.7820.9536 for disassembly and assembly work. Remove protective covers 1 (pic. 115) from the crankcase 4 and shift them along the rods. Having unfastened the locknuts 29 fastening the inner ends of the rods to the rail, unscrew them and remove the tips 21 of the rods.
The key 67.7812.9537 with an octagonal head unscrews the nut 27 of the stop and removes the spring and the retaining ring 26. Turn the gear 6 of the rack counterclockwise until it stops the restrictive protrusion into the crankcase and, applying torque to the gear shaft, shift the stop 24 of the rack. With special tongs with round jaws inserted into the recesses of the spring stop, the rail stop is removed from the crankcase. Remove the anther 14 together with the ring 13 from the gear and the lock washer 12, with the key 67.7812.9536 (24 mm) unscrew the nut 11. Remove the gear from the crankcase assembly with the ball bearing 7. Remove the protective washer 9, the circlip 8 and press the ball bearing off the gear shaft. They take out the rack 28 of the steering mechanism, and in case of wear, the support sleeve 3 of the rack. If the roller bearing 5 is worn or damaged, it is pressed out of the steering gear housing.
