Checking in the engine compartment
Places to check for a possible coolant leak: 1 - expansion tank; 2 - thermostat; 3 - coolant temperature indicator sensor; 4 - radiator hoses; 5 - radiator drain plug; 6 - drain plug of the cylinder block; 7 - inlet pipe heating outlet hose (under the fuel pump).
Recommendations:
- If leaks are found at the hose connections, tighten the hose clamps. Replace defective clamps.
- If coolant flows through the plugs and sensors, tighten them.
- Inspect hoses along their entire length, replace any that are torn, cracked or have lost elasticity. Drain the engine cooling system before replacing hoses (see subsection 3.5).
