The body of the car is of a load-bearing structure, three-door, all-metal, welded.
The car has variants of a passenger and cargo-passenger body. To transfer the body to the passenger-and-freight version, the rear seat folds down, increasing the area of the luggage compartment of the car.
The front seats are made separate with mechanisms for adjusting the backrest and moving the seat forward and backward. The front seat backrests can also be folded down to form sleeping quarters. The front seat backrests tilt forward to allow passengers to sit in the rear seat.
Windshield - three-layer, polished; glass doors and sidewalls - bent, polished, hardened. The windshield and tailgate glass have wipers and washers.
Front and rear body is protected by energy-intensive bumpers. The front fenders of the body are made removable.
Ventilation and heating of the interior of the body are carried out by outside air, which enters through the heater. The air duct system provides air supply to the windshield, to the central part of the cabin and to the driver's and front passenger's footwells. For interior heating, the air is heated in the heater, the radiator of which is included in the engine cooling system.
The body of the car is also equipped with rear-view mirrors, instrument panel, sun visors, handrails for passengers, seat belts, rear shelf, car towing eyes. In a variant version, cars can be equipped with an additional cigarette lighter, an ashtray, a rear door glass heater.
The body frame ensures the safety of passengers in the cabin during front, rear and side impacts by absorbing the impact. Among other elements of passive safety, seat belts and soft upholstery of the instrument panel play an important role. rear view mirror design and others. The fuel tank of the car is placed under the floor of the body in an area protected from damage under the rear seat.
Body frame
The main elements of the frame are the front, pop. sidewalls, a roof with a frame of a wind window, a back panel, load-bearing elements of a framework (spars, cross members, racks). The details of the plumage include the front panels of the body (roof panel, outer panels of sidewalls, front fenders. hood, doors and others).
All units and parts of the body, except for hinged units, are connected into a single whole by resistance spot welding, and heavily loaded parts are additionally welded by electric arc welding. Due to the reduction in the number of body parts and the use of large-sized panels, the number of welding points is significantly reduced compared to the bodies of other VAZ vehicles.
The front of the body consists of a flap 10 of the front, mudguards 8 of the front fenders, crossbars 4 and 50, struts 11 of the front suspension, struts 49 of the radiator frame, casings 47 of the headlights. amplifier 44 of the bulkhead and other small parts Mudguards 8 have front spars 6. The bulkhead has a battery platform and brackets for fastening components and instruments of the engine and electrical equipment of the car.
The floor of the body includes three main parts: the front 41, the rear 39 floor panels and the rear floor 32. The front panel of the floor is trough-shaped, in the middle the panel has a tunnel for exhaust pipes, which protects them from damage. The rear floor has rear spars 34. The front 43 and middle 38 crossbars are welded to the floor of the body.
Body sidewalls consist of external 13, 24 and internal 23 panels, made of one-piece parts with central and rear pillars, with openings for the front door and side windows. Linings 18, extensions 27, amplifiers, sidewall and roof connector 21, rear wheel arches 33 and other small details are welded to the sidewalls.
The roof panel 19 has a reinforcement 20. A wind window frame 17 is welded to the panel in front.
At the back, a back panel 31 and a cross member 30 are welded to the sidewalls and floor 32 of the back.
Removable units are hung on the body: front fenders 5, front doors 22, tailgate, hood, front 1 and rear 29 bumpers, radiator lining 2 and others. The front fender is attached with six self-tapping screws: three along the upper flange of the fender to the mudguard, one screw each in front of the fender and at the bottom rear, and one screw is attached to the front pillar, which can be accessed through the gap between the pillar and the open door. Insulating pads are installed under the front fender
The plumage of the body includes the front fenders 5, the outer panels 13 and 24 of the sidewalls, the roof panel 19, the outer panels 14 of the hood, rear 26 and side doors.
The main body parts are stamped from low-carbon steel 08 kp, external panels - 08 yu. The thickness of the main body parts is 0.8 mm. roof panels, rear, hood, front fenders - 0.7 mm; amplifiers - 1... 1.5 mm; floor crossbars - 1.0 mm; front and rear suspension spring supports - 2 mm Various small body parts (connectors, brackets, extensions) are stamped from steel with a thickness of 0.8... 2.5 mm.
The power circuit of the body is a welded individual elements of panels and parts (spars, racks, crossbars), which protect the passenger compartment from deformation during impacts. The damping of the speed of the car occurs due to the smooth deformation of the front and rear parts of the body.
To increase the corrosion resistance, the surfaces of the black body are coated with a primer using the cathophoretic method. An epoxy primer is additionally applied under the paintwork to improve the adhesion of surfaces with paint. Hidden body cavities (front and rear spars, floor sills, hood and front door pockets, cavities under the bulkhead shield reinforcements, as well as between sidewall panels and rear wheel arches, between mudguards and front pillar reinforcements) are treated with anti-corrosion compounds such as HTM-ML or «Movil», «Movil-2». The bottom of the body, the spars, the inner surfaces of the front wings are additionally covered with D-11A grade plastisol. Plastisol D-11 A is used only in car factories, as it requires a high drying temperature. During the operation of the car, to restore the coating of the bottom of the body, anti-noise bituminous mastic BPM-1 is used, which dries at 18... 20°C for 24 hours.
Mounted knots
The front doors, tailgate and hood consist of outer and inner panels connected to each other by bending flanges.
The front doors open in the direction of the car. The front end of the door is reinforced with an extension. The door is hung on two hinges, the movable links of which are welded to the extension, and the fixed ones are fastened with special bolts to the A-pillar. It is possible to regulate within a small range the gap between the door and the body with the help of enlarged holes in the fixed links of the hinges. The front doors are equipped with cable windows, interlocked locks and door opening limiters.
The tailgate is also hung on two hinges, which are bolted to the rear edge of the body roof. Access to the bolts requires removal of the top of the door seal and the rear of the roof lining. With one-piece molded roof lining, there are holes in the lining for access to the bolts, closed with plugs, and removal of the roof lining is not required. Enlarged holes in the fixed links of the hinges and the installation of shims under them allow you to adjust the position of the door in the body opening.
The hood is hung along the rear edge of the front end of the body on hinges. In order for the hood to have the same gaps with the front fenders and there was no sinking or protrusion of the front surfaces, the position of the hood is adjusted by shifting the hinges in the enlarged holes in the hood for their fastening, as well as changing the position of the rubber buffers in height. When adjusting, bending of the loops is allowed.
Bumpers are made of frost-resistant polypropylene Front bumper 1 is fastened in front with two bolts, on top with two latches and at the ends with nuts of side holders. The rear bumper 29 is attached to the body with bolts and side holders.
Facing 2 of the radiator is made of polypropylene and is attached to the front of the body with ten screws using flange nuts with six screws in front, two screws on the sides of the facing on top and two screws on the bottom edges.
