The piston is cleaned of carbon deposits and all deposits are removed from the lubrication channels of the piston and connecting rod. Carefully examine the details. Cracks of any nature on the piston, piston rings, pin, on the connecting rod and its cover are not allowed. If there are scuffs on the working surface of the liners, then replace them with new ones.
The height gaps between the piston rings and the grooves are checked with a set of feelers, installing the ring in the corresponding groove (see table. 2).
In the lock, the gap is checked with a set of feelers, inserting the rings into a gauge having a hole diameter equal to the nominal diameter of the ring with a tolerance of±0.003 mm. Gauges are suitable for this, which are used to zero the inside gauge when measuring cylinder diameters (see sect. «Cylinder block»).
