The selection of the thickness of the adjusting ring is carried out when replacing one of the following parts: differential box, differential bearing, clutch housing or gearbox.
Determine the thickness of the adjusting ring in the following order:
- press in the outer ring of the tapered roller bearing 3 (rice. 91) together with gauge ring 5 into the gearbox housing. The gauge ring 5 has a constant thickness of 1.25 mm;
- press the outer ring of the other differential bearing into the clutch housing. At the same time, make sure not to confuse the outer rings of the differential bearings;
- install the differential in the clutch housing and, having closed it with the gearbox housing, tighten the nuts securing the gearbox to the clutch housing with a torque of 24.5 N·m;
- install the support mandrel 2 on the differential box and fix indicator 1 with an extension using a universal holder. The indicator leg is installed on the support mandrel with a preload equal to 1 mm, and the indicator is fixed in this position, after which the differential is rotated to self-align the bearings until the indicator reading stabilizes;
- the indicator pointer is set to zero;
- moving the differential from below through the mandrel 4, monitor the indicator readings. When measuring the axial displacement of the differential, you must not turn it, so as not to distort the measurements.
According to the formula S = A + B + C, the thickness of the differential bearing adjusting ring is calculated. In this formula, S is the thickness of the adjusting ring; A - axial movement of the differential; B - differential bearing preload; C is the thickness of the gauge ring (constant value).
Example. The indicator reading when the differential is moved is 1.00 mm. The differential bearing preload is 0.25 mm, the gauge ring thickness is 1.25 mm. S=1.00+0.25+1.25=2.50 mm.
After determining the thickness of the adjusting ring, the clutch housing and gearbox are disconnected, the differential is removed, the outer bearing ring is pressed out of the gearbox housing and instead of the adjusting ring 5 (see fig. 91) install the selected adjusting ring. The outer ring of the differential bearing is pressed in, the differential is installed in the clutch housing and, having closed it with the gearbox housing, the nuts securing the gearbox housing to the clutch housing are tightened.
Check with a dynamometer 02.7812. 9501 moment of resistance to rotation of the differential, for which the tip of the dynamometer is passed through the hole in the differential box (for wheel drive shaft) until they cover the axis of the satellites. Turning the handle of the dynamometer a few turns, the moment of resistance to turning is determined on the scale. It should be 134-330 Ncm for new bearings, and at least 30 Ncm for used bearings.
The axle shaft seals are pressed into the clutch housing and gearbox.
