Disconnect the wire from the terminal "–" battery.
Set the piston of the first cylinder to the TDC position (see subsection 10.1.).
For convenience, remove the air filter (see subsection 10.10.1.) and an ignition coil.
If traces of oil leakage through the camshaft seal are found, first check if the crankcase ventilation system is clogged and if the crankcase ventilation system hoses are pinched, and repair if necessary.
If the oil leak does not stop, replace the oil seal.
1. Remove the camshaft drive belt from the camshaft pulley, idler pulley and water pump pulley (see subsection 10.3.2.) and take him aside.
2. Fix the camshaft pulley from turning by inserting a screwdriver into its hole and resting it on the pin; unscrew the bolt securing the pulley.
3. Note that there is a flat washer under the bolt.
4. Using a screwdriver, remove the pulley from the camshaft.
5. Remove the key from the camshaft if it is not seated snugly in the shaft groove.
6. Using a screwdriver, remove the seal.
7. Before installing a new oil seal, inspect the working lip. It should be smooth, without tears, dents and rubber influxes.
8. The gland spring must be intact and unstretched.
9. Before installing a new oil seal, lubricate its working lip with engine oil.
10. Install the oil seal with the working edge inside the block head, carefully fill the working edge onto the camshaft with a wooden stick and...
11.... press the oil seal to the stop using a suitable mandrel.
12. Install all parts in the reverse order of removal. At the same time, install the camshaft pulley with the protruding part of the hub away from the engine. Adjust the tension of the camshaft drive belt (see subsection 10.3.3.).
